Sassetot-le-Mauconduit is a little town in Upper Normandy that would go through history unnoticed if it were not that the Empress of Austria, the famous Sissi (remember the movie with Romy Schneider?), stayed in the town’s castle during one summer holiday.
The castle, built in the 18th century, is prominent in the town. Sissi is rumoured to have given birth to an illegitimate child here during her summer holidays.

The castle is now a luxury hotel and restaurant.

In the days that the castle was built (and even thereafter) it was not known as Chateau de Sissi. It has been renamed recently by the hotel.

The hotel has a large restaurant and park that can be enjoyed. It is not the only castle in the town, there are two others; Chateau de Briquedalle and the Chateau de Criquemanville.

And yes, that is my motorcycle in front of the castle. The Motorcycle is an electric one, the American made Zero DS.
The inside of the hotel is rather nice, not overdone in furniture, but enough to make it cozy:
