Charles Euphrasie Kuwasseg (1838 – 1904) was a French painter of the 19th century. He essentially specialized in landscape paintings. His father, Karl Joseph Kuwasseg, was an Austrian born in Trieste on March 16, 1802, and also a renowned painter. His father left for Paris, and took French nationality. He died in Paris in January 1877.
A pupil of Jean-Baptiste Henri Durand-Brager and Eugene Isabey, Charles E. Kuwasseg forsook painting for a while to become a long-distance sailor. He specializes in landscapes, in the wake of the Barbizon school. Kuwasseg has as favorite subjects the Breton and Norman ports as well as those of the North Sea and the Alpine villages. He collaborates with Theophile Poilpot on different series of paintings.
