Chateau Palmer is another well-known winery in the Margaux region, with a history dating back to the 18th century when both the castle and its wines were already being enjoyed by the royal courts of Versailles.
The name Palmer sounds British, and that’s because it is. A British army officer bought the property in 1814 and named it after himself. Even after he was obliged to sell of the castle to pay off his debts, the name remained.
The 55 hectares (136 acres) surround the property and estate.
The Chateau Palmer is recognised as the 3rd most important growth (in French =”cru”) of the Bordeaux region.
The castle and winemaking facilities can be visited, BUT require a reservation. You can NOT just show up for a tour. To request a guided tour, please fill in the form by clicking on this link.
