Margaux-Cantenac – Chateau Palmer
The Chateau Palmer is another of the famous Margaux wines. The castle and it wines were already in use by the royal courts of Versailles in the 18th century.
The name Palmer sounds British, and that’s because it is. A British army officer bought the property in 1814 and named it after himself. Even after he was obliged to sell of the castle to pay off his debts, the name remained.
The 55 hectares (136 acres) surround the property and estate.
The Chateau Palmer is recognised as the 3rd most important growth (in French =”cru”) of the Bordeaux region.
The castle and winemaking facilities can be visited, BUT require a reservation. You can NOT just show up for a tour. To request a guided tour, please fill in the form by clicking on this link.
