This page forms part of a series of pages dedicated to the many artists who painted in Le Havre. A full list of all the artists with a link to their works can be found at the bottom of this page.
This is PART 2. The first part deals with only the paintings Raoul Dufy made in Le Havre (click here to read it), while this page deals with two of the Le Havre surroundings; Sainte-Adresse and Harfleur.
Raoul Dufy (1877 – 1953) was a French painter in the Fauvism, Impressionism, Modernism and Cubism movements.
He was born in Le Havre where he studied arts in the local school. He (and his younger brother Jean Dufy) both painted a lot in Normandy. He went to school in Le Havre and there became a longlife friend of fellow artist Othon Friesz. Click here to read his full bio on Wikipedia.

Sainte-Adresse
The city of Sainte-Adresse (population: 7,400) is an immediate suburb of Le Havre and lies to the North/West alongside the coast. It shares the same seaside promenade with Le Havre.
NOTE: The Pier at Sainte-Adresse still exists. It’s called in French “L’estacade”.
NOTE: Although I think the title is wrong, since there was no casino in Sainte-Adresse. The Marie-Christine Casino was on the beach of Le Havre and no longer exist since it was bombed during WWII.
NOTE: The castle-style house you see in the background appears to be the Villa Maritieme of Le Havre.
NOTE: Nowadays behind the Pier (L’estacade) of Sainte-Adresse is the Yacht Club of Le Havre building (SRH).
NOTE: I would presume this the North Dike of Le Havre harbour, which looks out onto Sainte-Adresse.
Harfleur
Harfleur (population: 8300) is a small city located close to Le Havre on the East. It’s a suburb of Le Havre.
