The Normandy region is famous for its food made with (a lot of) cream. Usually the dish has the word “Normand” or “Cauchois” appended to it, meaning that you can expect a lot of cream. The area is not known for high cuisine, but you will find some very good ones.

The Ferme Saint-Simeon, a former farm, has been an institution for centuries. It has been an upmarket “hotel” and more importantly, a restaurant/bar where many famous artists would hang out.
Today, it’s a 5-star hotel / restaurant.
Chez Alain restaurant is not a restaurant in the traditional sense. It belongs to a fishing boat, and it’s a stall where they cook your choice of fresh fish and you eat it on the spot.

With an upcoming superstar chef Pierre Caillet, the Le Bec au Chauchois restaurant painfully merits its Michelin star, and deserves a second one. But one table stands out : the table inside the kitchen!
The Au Souper Fin restaurant has 1 Michelin Star, and is located a few miles North of the city of Rouen. It’s worth a detour, since for a Michelin restaurant is quite cheap, and they have rooms for rent as well.
The Manoir de Retival is not only an excellent restaurant with a great view, but its also quite unique. Situated in an old manor, it serves only ONE table. Worth the trip and the money.
Gill restaurant in Rouen has 2 Michelin stars, therefore it’s excellent, but he also has 3 other restaurants that are cheaper, but high quality.
An institution for those in the know, Dame Cakes is THE place for desert: cakes and lots of them. It’s a tea room which also serves a light lunch. The place to eat wonderful sweets and forget about a diet.
La Couronne is France’s oldest Inn, going back to 1345. So it knows a thing or two about making & serving food. Try the Pressed Duck… heaven.
Dormy House is an institution in Etretat, with a great restaurant (and hotel) and an even greater view over the town and sea.
The Relais Saint Michel is the last restaurant before the actual island, offering a great view and one fantastic dish.
The only 2-star Michelin restaurant in Le Havre, Jean-Luc Tartarin is located next to a nice park.
