Peruvian Navy Tall Ship leaving the Le Havre harbour

Le Havre: Tall Ship Parade for 500 Years Celebration – 3 September

A taste of what will be happening on the 3rd of September. For the 500 years celebration of the city of Le Havre, some 50 tall ships will be gathering starting on the 31st of August.

On the 3rd of September, Sunday, all of them will be leaving the harbour, one after the other, and then do a parade lap in front of the beach.

The ships will start leaving their births at 08:30 in the morning, and the first ones will be leaving the harbour entrance at 09:30. This will continue until around 11:30 in the morning.

The ship you see in the photo above, is the B.A.P. Union, a Peruvian Navy training ship. It is the largest sailing ship of South America and had arrived at Le Havre for 3 days, leaving today.

So if you are interested in seeing this spectacular event, arrive early (like taking the Southampton night ferry to Le Havre). The event is free.
