Within Deauville

There is no need for transportation inside the town, it’s small enough to walk everywhere although they do have a bus system.

Restaurants

Plenty of restaurants, and as you can expect some very decent even excellent ones. You’ll find different types, but many offer seafood. In total some 100 restaurants, one even on a river boat. There are a couple on the beach or close to it (try the “Le Ciro’s” located on the promenade).

Strangely enough, for a town with expensive tastes, there are no Michelin-starred restaurants. However, the restaurant inside the hotel Normandy, the “La Belle Epoque” is worth a visit.

Hotels

Deauville is an upmarket place, so expect good hotels that are quite expensive.

Things To See/Things To Do

  • Walk the beach promenade (even in the winter) and look at all the famous movie star names that are on the changing rooms. It’s Deauville equivalent of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
  • Window shop alongside the casino streets (expensive, high fashion brand names)
  • Spend a few hours in the luxury casino and pretend you are in Monte Carlo

Tip: Like every casino in France, you need official identification papers, like a passport, to get in.

  • Admire the wonderfully maintained houses and buildings, all in the Normandy style.

  • Take the small ferry to visit Trouville-sur-Mer (neighbouring town, separated by a small river. The ferry ride is 2-3 minutes)
